Nugent Sends Rams Third
Attendance: 25, 813
Three goals in five minutes gave Derby County a 3-0 win over Millwall at Pride Park. David Nugent converted a low corner from Chris Baird on twentythree minutes to open the scoring before Matej Vydra fired Home shortly afterwards. Nugent was on hand at the near post to convert Bradley Johnson`s cross to complete the quick fire scoring. Scott Carson saved from Aiden O`Brien and Steve Morison as The Rams saw out the remainder of the game to move up to third in the table.
The Rams were unchanged as they looked to extend their winning run and they had Curtis Davies to thank for remaining on level terms when he cleared off the line from Lee Gregory with fifteen minutes gone. Only seven minutes later they were in front when David Nugent flicked home Chris Baird`s low corner
The goal turned the game as Matej Vydra fired into the net from just outside the area. A spell of three goals in five minutes was completed on twentynine minutes when Bradley Johnson kept the ball in play and hooked a cross to the near post where Nugent was on hand to convert.
Scott Carson kept out Aiden O`Brien`s volley from inside the area as the scone half got underway. Jordan Archer then stretched to push Andreas Weimann`s long-range effort to safety at the other end as the game swung back and forth.
Nugent had another effort saved as he looked for his hat-trick and Steve Morison was also denied by Carson as Millwall had the better of the closing stages.
