Rams Held By Blues
Attendance: 27, 392
Two quick fire goals from substitutes saw Derby County and Birmingham City end with a point apiece in a 1-1 draw at Pride Park. There were few chances in the first half as the two sides frustrated each other before Lukas Jutkiewicz headed the visitors in front less than a minute after coming on from the bench. Sam Winnall had a similar impact only four minutes later heading home at the far post with his first touch after replacing Matej Vydra. Neither side could find a winner in the closing stages as the game finished all square.
Gary Rowett went with an unchanged side for the third game in a row but neither side could establish any rhythm in the opening stages as chances were at a premium. Curtis Davies deflected a Sam Gallagher shot behind for a corner with a rare sight of goal and a curling effort from David Nugget was kept out at full stretch by Tomasz Kuszczak as the sides went in level at the break.
The Rams tried to step things up after the break but lacked the final pass and after a double change by the visitors they found themselves behind when substitute Lukas Jutkiewicz glanced home a header from Craig Gardner`s cross on sixty-four minutes.
The lead lasted only three minutes though as a double change by Derby also brought an instant reward with Sam Winnall heading home at the far post from Richard Keogh`s header back across goal. The striker had another effort from range kept out by Kuszczak who was then off his line to deny fellow substitute Mason Bennett. Birmingham re-established their shape and Maxime Colin dragged an effort across goal after Jutkiewicz`s header reached him but neither side could edge themselves in front in the closing stages.
