Rams Thrash Sorry Tigers
Attendance: 25, 107
Derby County were clinical in front of goal as they put Hull City to the sword in a 5-0 win at Pride Park in front of the SkySports cameras on Friday night. Matej Vydra opened the scoring with a freekick before Seb Larsson missed a penalty and The Rams made him pay for his profligacy. Vydra slammed home his second before Curtis Davies headed a third and Bradley Johnson completed a miserable first half for The Tigers. Johnson added his second, and Derby`s fifth, before the hour mark as they got back to winning ways.
Chris Baird and Tom Lawrence came into the side as The Rams looked to get back on track after the international break and they started at a high tempo with Matej Vydra coming close from an overhead kick. The Czech striker didn`t take long to break the deadlock though as he was brought down on the edge of the area and he picked himself up and curled home an unstoppable freekick the edge of the area.
The visitors had a great chance to get themselves back in the game when Lawrence slipped and hauled down Ola Aina in the area but Seb Larsson fired over the top from the spot and from there The Rams took control of the scoreline. Bradley Johnson found David Nugent running into the area and he turned and laid the ball back to Vydra who smashed home him his and Derby`s second just the minutes later.
Curtis Davies headed the third when he met a Lawrence cross from the right and his header found the corner of the net and Johnson added a fourth before the break when he had the simple task of converting at the far post from close range to round out a superb first half.
The second half was thirteen minutes old when things got even better for Derby, pressure near the goal line forced a poor clearance and Johnson was first to the ball to make it 5-0 after taking a touch and curling home off the far post from the edge of the area.
With the result beyond doubt chances were scarcer as the game ticked by but Aina did force Scott Carson into a save with a header with twenty minutes to go as The Rams saw out the closing stages to take home a convincing win.
