Eastwood Town 0 - Derby County 4

Coronation Park

Attendance:

Rams Rout Eastwood

Theo Robinson, Stefan Galinski and Callum Ball scored the goals as a Derby County XI came out comfortable 4-0 winners at Coronation Park against Eastwood Town. The home side couldn`t handle Robinson`s pace and he nearly gave The Rams the lead inside the first minute only for his effort to be cleared off the line after rounding the keeper. Callum Ball played him in on goal on ten minutes and he calmly slotted home to give his side the lead and second year scholar Galinski headed home from a corner to double the lead. Ball lashed home from close range to make it three just before the break and Robinson bundled home from close range not long into the second half to round off the scoring in an easy win.

The Rams went with a side with a number of youngsters although there were places for Adam Legzdins, Steve Davies, Tomasz Cywka, Theo Robinson and Stephen Pearson as the match kicked-off with Davies playing an unfamiliar leftback role. Blue Square North side Eastwood included a number of players with football league experience including former Ram Lee Morris. Derby started quickly and were nearly in front inside the first thirty seconds when Robinson went around the keeper by his effort was cleared off the line. The former Millwall man was not to be denied though and Callum Ball played him in behind the Eastwood backline with a neat ball and he rolled the ball under the advancing Ian Deakin and into the net.

Eastwood were starting to find their feet but the gulf in class was apparent and Stefan Galinski rose highest to head home a corner from Cywka on twenty-two minutes to increase his side`s advantage. Four minutes later it was three when Ryan Connolly`s corner found Ball and the youngster was given enough time and space to bring the ball down and lash it into the roof of the net. Cywka, Robinson and Ball all had changes in the closing stages of the half but they couldn`t take advantage of them and the score remained at 3-0 at the break.

Pearson and Davies were replaced at the break but the changes didn't stop Derby`s momentum and Alex Witham forced a fine save from Deakin from distance early in the second period. From the corner Robinson bundled home from close range for his second of the match and The Rams` fourth. Roy Chatterjee, on trial at the academy, was introduced on the hour mark in place of Robinson after a good run out for the striker. Deakin denied Connolly on seventy minutes when he was played in on goal and goalkeeper James Severn replaced him shortly afterwards to play the closing stages as a striker and he very nearly got his name on the scoresheet but Deakin pushed his volley onto the woodwork and behind for a corner in the dieing moments of the match.

Derby County: Legzdins, Cole, S Davies (Dales HT), Witham, Galinski, Jones, Cywka (Lelan 68), Pearson (Sharpe HT), Ball (Wixsted 68), Robinson (Chatterjee 60), Connolly (Severn 72).
