A much improved display saw Derby dominate large periods of the game but they still came away from St Andrews` without any points and drop into the bottom three of the Championship. A Lee Carsley header gave Alex McLeish`s men all three points on a night when it could easily have been a different story had The Ram`s taken one of a string of chances that came their way including a Kris Commons effort inside the first couple of minutes after Taylor in the Birmingham goal dropped a cross at his feet. Derby continued to control the first half with Hulse and Commons having further opportunities but it was Carsley who gave the home side the lead on the hour mark and despite further Derby pressure, including a late Addison header cleared off the line, they couldn`t find an equaliser and fell into the drop zone after another away defeat.
