The Grecians vs. The Rams

Pre-Season Preview: Exeter City (A)

The Rams are looking to bring an end to a sequence which has seen them lose three pre-season games in a row. Defeats to Matlock Town, Burton Albion and Crewe Alexandra have dampened spirits after a promising start, but results are only secondary before the League matches start. That said, a winning culture always breeds confidence and goals for the strikers who haven't hit the back of the net in a Derby shirt (Nathan Tyson, Chris Maguire) would give them a spring in their step come 7th August.

Vital Quotes:

Rams striker Nathan Tyson is keen to show his manager that he should begin the season in the starting 11: 'The window of opportunity is there and it is down to us as players to take it,' said Tyson.

'This is the best chance to show the manager 'I mean business and give me the chance'.

'I am sure the manager hasn't totally made up his mind over what the team will be for the opening day of the season, so we know how important these games are to impress.

'I want to be firing on all cylinders for the opening game.'

The Grecians Team News:

Player to watch: Daniel Nardiello

Former Barnsley striker Nardiello was in great form for The Grecians. The Welshman netted 10 in 30 games.

The Rams Team News:

Nathan Tyson is set to start the game and should be joined by Chris Riggott. James Bailey may feature after a groin injury kept him out of the first few games.

Player to watch: Nathan Tyson

Speedy forward Tyson was unlucky not to score in the away game at Crewe. He needs a goal before the season starts in earnest.

Pre-Season Results:

Crewe Alexandra (a) 1-2

Morcambe (a) 1-1

Macclesfield Town (a) 2-2

Burton Albion (a) 3-1
