Pre-Season Preview: Macclesfield Town (A)

The Rams continue their pre-season programme with a trip to Macclesfield's Moss Rose.

Derby comfortably saw off Burton in their first game and will hope to carry on to create a winning mentality before the real football starts against Birmingham City.

Vital Quotes:

Nigel Clough was pleased with his side's run-out against his old side, Burton Albion, and had this to say to the DET: 'We saw bits of things, glimpses, and there were good little bits of play,' said Clough.

'There was some good passing and good movement for both goals in the first half, which was encouraging.

'When we were doing well last season, our movement was good and there were options for the men on the ball and we hope that will come with the more games we play pre-season.

'It is the movement as much as anything. I was talking to Paul (Peschisolido, Burton manager) at half-time and he said that was what they struggled to cope with.'

The Silkmen Team News:

Player to watch: Arnaud Mendy

Frenchman Mendy was released by The Rams at the end of last season and was quickly snapped up by The Silkmen.

Although he only featured in one league game for The Rams, he looked a decent prospect, and at the age of 21, it will be interesting to see whether the lanky midfielder can make it in the Football League.

The Rams Team News:

Midfielder Craig Bryson won't play a part in the game having picked up a hip injury in the Burton win.

Let's hope he isn't the new Chris Porter.

New signing Jason Shackell and former Crewe man James Bailey will also sit out the game as they continue with their rehab.

Player to watch: Jamie Ward

Attacker Ward was in great form at the end of last season, scoring five goals after joining from Sheffield United. His willingness and skill made him an instant favourite at Pride Park.

It would be good for him to hit goal-scoring form in pre-season.

Pre-Season Results:

Burton Albion (a) 3-1
