Preview: Ipswich Town vs. Derby County

Nigel Clough´s in-form Rams make the trip to Suffolk to take on Roy Keane´s Ipswich town in a mouth-watering fixture. Both teams are on hot streaks and will be keen to extend their runs and cement their play-off positions. Ipswich are level on points with Derby, but sit in 6th, two positions below The Rams, as a result of their iferior goal-difference.

Vital Quotes:

Rams coach Johnny Metgod recognises the fact that teams will start to try and out-battle Derby rather than out-football them as a result of their reputation for playing attractive stuff: 'Saturday against Portsmouth proved that there was another team who was trying to have a go at us. They were trying to do whatever they could to try to get us out of our rhythm but we coped with that.

'We played really well and when we had to compete and battle with Portsmouth, we did.

'I think we are the sort of side who, if we can compete and battle at the same level as the opposition, then we have quite a decent team when it comes down to playing football.

'So we have a decent chance of beating any team but we have to make sure we compete.

'Everyone realises now that if we have time and space, we are good footballing side and so teams will try to stop us playing.'

Ipswich star Jack COlback sees the fixture against The Rams as one in which they cane show their credentials as promotion contenders: 'The two games this week will show how serious our promotion chances are,' confirmed the midfielder.

'To be contenders for promotion or the play-offs we need to win them.

'Last season we followed a good result with a poor performance.

'Now we must push on, and two wins would put us into a great position.

'If you lose a couple of matches in the Championship you drop down significantly, and we must forget about Sheffield United now and move on.'

The Tractor Boys Team News:

The Tractor boys could be without influential midfielder David Norris as he is struggling with an injury, as are Grant Leadbitter and Tom Eastmon. Darren O'Dea and Mark Kennedy are back in training but the match willö arrive to soon for them.

Player to watch: Jason Scotland

Reported to be a Derby target during the transfer window, Scotland has enjoyed a good start to the season with five goals in twelve games. He has already proved himself at this level a productive season with Swansea at this level.

The Rams Team News:

The Rams are set to be without star-man Alberto Bueno, as he continues to battle an achilles/ankle injury. Luke Moore joins him on the sidelines after feeling his hamstring in training last week.
Defender Dean Leacock will miss the game through a one-match suspension, and with fellow centre-halves Russel Anderson and Jake Buxton still not fit, Nigel Clough will have to reshuffle his pack. Likely changes are either John Brayford or Dean Moxey moving into the middle from their usual wide positions.

Player to watch: Tomasz Cyfka

Pole Cyfka has been in sparkling form recently with two goals and three assists in his last two matches. His direct running is a joy to watch and he is proving to be an excellent acquisition as a free transfer.
