Frenchman Robert Pride Park bound

Frenchman Robert Pride Park bound

The Rams will sign former Newcastle winger Laurent Robert on Tuesday and he will become Rams boss Paul Jewell's third January signing.

The 32-year-old Frenchman has impressed while training with the Rams and Jewell is confident the deal will go through.

'He's done exceptionally well in training, and hopefully he will be a Derby player on Tuesday,' he said.

Robert has also played in the Premiership with Portsmouth, and is likely to sign at Pride Park until the end of the season as Jewell looks to strengthen the squad for the Premiership relegation dog fight.

'I would think he will be on a short-term contract, but I don't want to say too much until it's done and dusted,' he added.
