Is Ghaly right for the Rams?
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Hossam Ghaly has revealed that he is close to joining the Rams on a six-month loan deal, but stressed that the deal is yet to be finalized.
'Derby opened talks with me five days ago. My agent is negotiating with the club officials to reach a final agreement,' the Egyptian midfielder said.
The controversial player will come with a great deal of baggage, and his comment about the Rams doesn`t give the supporters much joy.
He said on an Egyptian web site: "Although Derby are struggling in the Premiership, it will be a good chance for me to play on a regular basis and prove my worth before joining a bigger club.
'It will be a loan deal because I fear Derby may fail to secure league safety this season.'
Is that the sort of player we want at Pride Park? Yes he is a talented player but he seems to be very temperamental and could be a bad influence within the side - just ask the Spurs supporters for their views?
Ghaly has been targeting a move away from Tottenham since falling out with manager Martin Jol following his angry reaction at being substituted in a Premiership game last season.
It seems now the 26-year-old has several options to consider before departing White Hart Lane
'My agent told me there are two other clubs interested in my services. In case one of these clubs table an official bid, I will consider it before choosing the best option,' he concluded.
