Rams swoop for Mills
Paul Jewell has signed former England defender Danny Mills on loan from Manchester City until the end of the season.
The Rams boss has pinpointed the defensive weakness in the Pride Park side and Mills` experience will be invalid for the rest of the season.
The 30-year-old defender trained with the Rams this morning at Moor Farm and could be available to face Sheffield Wednesday in Sunday's FA Cup third round tie.
Mills began his career at Carrow Road with Norwich City and went to Charlton for £250,000 in 1998 before making a £4.1m move to Leeds United in 1999.
He spent 2003-04 season on loan at Middlesbrough and signed on a free transfer for City in the summer of 2004 on a five-year contract.
He recently returned to City after his four-month loan spell at Charlton ended when he was sent off against Hull City on December 22 for dissent and the red card earned him a three-match ban.
The tough defender has been dismissed seven times in his career, but he will be good addition to the squad.
Following a series of impressive performances for Leeds United, Mills received his first England call-up in 2001, making his international debut on 25 May 2001, as a substitute in a friendly against Mexico at Pride Park.
His first England start came on 27 March 2002 in a friendly against Italy, and has made a total of 19 appearances for the national team.
