'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Thome Joins On Loan

Wigan defender Emerson Thome has joined Derby on a month's loan.

Thome spoke well of the club and is looking forward to getting involved.

'I know they have been looking to get me for a while and unfortunately it didn't happen before. I want to help myself and Phil and help this club go in the right direction.

'I'm still capable of doing good things, I think I am as reliable as ever but I need to have a good run of games with good players around me.

'I think I took the right option in coming here. I know Phil from Bolton and I know exactly what he wants, he knows exactly what he will get from me. He understands my situation because it's not going to be easy with having my family still up in Bolton.

'Phil is a very understanding person. I appreciate that he has committed himself in me, so the best thing for me now is to commit to him and to Derby County.'

'I have played against Derby a few times in my career, it is a great club with great supporters and very good foundations - there is a good history, and a fantastic training ground and stadium.'

'At the moment the club is not in the league that the fans want but that is football, and we have to work towards that in the best way possible.

'With the right people to take the club forward there is a good chance that they can go places.

'Phil Brown is the right man here, a young and ambitious manager with good experience from his days at Bolton.

'He is starting to show what he can do and what he is capable of.'
