Rams look at new strikers?

A goalless draw at Fulham on Saturday continued the Rams away day blues on the score sheet, and with that in mind Rams Billy Davies is looking at bringing in a striker to bolster their Premier League fight.

A number of strikers have been mentioned in the press and Davies will have to bite the bullet soon if the goals don`t start to go in.

A loan move for Newcastle United Shola Ameobi with a permanent transfer in the window has been mentioned; the 26-year-old has only made six appearances so far this season, and looks like he is down the pecking order of striker at St James` Park.

He has made 166 appearances for Newcastle and made his debut for the senior team on September 9, 2000, in a home game against Chelsea. He has also made 20 appearances for the England under 21`s.

Another player mentioned is Portsmouth striker David Nugent, who worked with Davies at Preston and the Rams boss is hoping to bring the 22-year-old to Pride Park.

The talented striker has struggled to keep a place in the Pompey starting line up this season and might look at the move to enhance his England career. He made his debut as a late substitute for Steve McClaren`s side in a Euro 2008 qualifying match against Andorra in Barcelona and marked the occasion with a ninetieth minute goal, tapping in Jermain Defoe's shot on the goal line.

Another striker mentioned is Henrik Larsson who is currently playing for Swedish side Helsingborgs IF. The former Celtic striker returned to the Premier League last season with Manchester United during the January transfer window and Davies is hoping to bring him back for another Premier League stint for the Rams.

Can't see it happening with Henrik. Is thier any truth in this rumour that Kenny Miller is going back to Scotland in Jan to Rangers?!

You need to get more than strikers in as it is your defence what is the problem.
