Todd heading to Rams

The Rams have signed Andy Todd from Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee after agreeing term over the weekend and passing a medical.

The Todd name is one which graced the Rams championship winning sides at the Baseball Ground, in father Colin, and Andy is set to follow in his dad`s footsteps. Todd senior played 371 games for the Rams and also managed the Rams in 2001.

Junior Todd, was born in Derby in September 1974 - early in the Rams' second title-winning season - is hoping to make a big impact in a white shirt, like his father.

Rams boss Billy Davies told the official web site: 'We are delighted to be signing an experienced player who is a competitor and a leader on the pitch.
'The fact that he's the son of a Derby County legend will I'm sure make him an instant hit with the fans.'

Todd has mainly played in the backline, but who can also play as a holding midfielder. He began his career as a trainee at Middlesbrough and made his debut in 1992. He joined Bolton Wanderers in 1995, where Andy spent three years before a 750,000 move to Charlton Athletic. Another three years and another 750,000 fee saw him move to Blackburn Rovers in May 2002, where he has twice been named supporters' player of the year after a series of consistent performances.

He has played 268 games, along with a further 51 substitute appearances, and has scored 12 goals.
