Todd heading to Rams

The Rams have signed Andy Todd from Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee after agreeing term over the weekend and passing a medical.

The Todd name is one which graced the Rams championship winning sides at the Baseball Ground, in father Colin, and Andy is set to follow in his dad`s footsteps. Todd senior played 371 games for the Rams and also managed the Rams in 2001.

Junior Todd, was born in Derby in September 1974 - early in the Rams' second title-winning season - is hoping to make a big impact in a white shirt, like his father.

Rams boss Billy Davies told the official web site: 'We are delighted to be signing an experienced player who is a competitor and a leader on the pitch.
'The fact that he's the son of a Derby County legend will I'm sure make him an instant hit with the fans.'

Todd has mainly played in the backline, but who can also play as a holding midfielder. He began his career as a trainee at Middlesbrough and made his debut in 1992. He joined Bolton Wanderers in 1995, where Andy spent three years before a £750,000 move to Charlton Athletic. Another three years and another £750,000 fee saw him move to Blackburn Rovers in May 2002, where he has twice been named supporters' player of the year after a series of consistent performances.

He has played 268 games, along with a further 51 substitute appearances, and has scored 12 goals.
