The traditional rivalry between the Rams and the Forest will continue this season when both teams compete for the new Brain Clough Trophy. The last time the Rams met the side from 16-miles down the road was in 2004-2005 season the Rams winning 3-0 at Pride Park with Tommy Smith and a Grzegorz Rasiak double and the last time they met in the league was at the City ground with the Rams drawing 2-2 Rasiak on target again twice.
Derby County and Nottingham Forest will compete for the Trophy for the first time at Pride Park Stadium on Tuesday July 31. The match, which could raise a six-figure sum for east midlands charities, will form a key part of both clubs' first team preparations for the 2007/08 season.
The night will be special with a number of guests include members of the 1972 Derby County championship side, and the Reds European Cup winning sides Brian managed.
Clough`s wife Barbara will present the trophy on the night and she said: "Brian would have thoroughly approved of this trophy, to be played between two clubs he loved so much.
'It is a brilliant idea to harness the healthy rivalry of both sets of fans into an occasion that benefits local charities.'
Tickets for the game are on sale from July 6th through the usual channels, initially to 2007/08 season ticket holders only.
