Currie in no hurry to leave the Rams

Rams on loan midfielder Darren Currie hopes to earn a permanent deal at Pride Park when his Portman Road contract expires this summer.

The 32-year-old, who was out of favour at Ipswich, joined the Pride Park side in March after the trials he had at American side Los Angeles Galaxy didn't work out. Currie admits the structure at the club and the passion of boss Billy Davies has won him over, and is no hurry to leave.

He said: "I want my future to be here at Derby County, working with Billy Davies.
"Billy has made it clear that if I do what is expected of me I will have a future here - so it is up to me to earn it.
"I was out in the US when my agent flew out and told me that Derby were keen to take me.
"I did not have much of a decision to make - they are a great club, they are flying and they wanted to sign me.'

Rams boss Billy Davies has put the ball in Currie`s court, he said: "Darren is a very talented individual and I think he can open a door or two for us.
"It is now up to Darren, and we'll take another look at it later on."

With Currie joining from Ipswich Town he will be unable to play for Derby against Town on the 14th of April.
