Rams coach takes out Award

Derby County boss Billy Davies has been named the Championship Manager of the Month for January. It`s the second award for the Scotsman this season, and his side continues to lead the Championship by six points. Davies led the Rams on an unbeaten run through the month and although the side haven`t really hit their straps yet, the side are showing the passion and determination the coach has installed in them.

Davies said: "'It was a difficult January for us, but we got through it very well and I am delighted to pick the award up on behalf of everybody at Derby County.
'We will do the best we can, and we will look no further than the next match, against Hull City on Saturday. We know what we have got to do, there is a great opportunity.
'We are in there fighting and will continue with the hard work to finish as high as we can.'

League wins over Preston, Sheffield Wednesday, Southend and Burnley ensured Davies beat the likes of Steve Tilson and Roy Keane to the award and he is looking to kick on and secure promotion in the final 15 games of the season.
Davies added: "With 15 games remaining I would say we need four or five more wins to make sure we are in the play-offs and you have to say that is achievable.
'It will be disappointing if we do not at least make the play-offs. Whether we finish first or second for automatic promotion is another matter.
'But our next two away games in the league are at Sunderland and then at Birmingham so we can't afford to count on anything yet.'

It could be a Rams double with striker Steve Howard up for the Championship 'Player of the month` award, which is announced on Sunday.
