The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game between Sunderland and Derby County this Friday.
Sunderland host Derby County on Friday August 4 for the game at the Stadium of Light and the match carries a 7.45pm kick off.
Referee: Oliver Langford
Assistants Refs: Mark Russell and Steven Meredith
Fourth Official: Stephen Martin
Match Day referee Langford took in 44 games in 2016/17 with a return of 129 yellows and five red cards.
His highest card count that year was nine yellows in the game between Swindon Town and Bristol Rovers.
He took in 41 matches in 2015-16 and in those games, across all competitions and football divisions, he handed out a total of 99 yellow cards and four red cards.
He was most card happy in the match between Burton Albion and Millwall on December 1 with a total of seven yellows being shown, along with one red.
Langford is a very experienced match official, with nine seasons as an EFL referee under his belt. As part of the PGMO development programme, he has officiated in the Dallas Cup and Algarve Cup. He has now refereed nearly 200 EFL matches.
