Rams on the road - By Ros Sutton

The Rams have a great following away from home and this week we start a new section were fans can write to me and give their accounts of the trip away from home or the game at Pride Park. The game and the victory is the ultimate of the trip, but what happened on the way to the match - how did you get there, were the pies any good?

This week Ros Sutton travelled away to Southend with the Ashbourne branch of the Derby County supporters club and she sends her account of the game at Roots Hall

Our visit to Southend began with a 20 mile police escort into town from the M25! The first half was very entertaining with Derby playing well and creating plenty of good chances. New signings Teale, Pearson and Fagan all made lively contributions and David Jones shows increasing touches of real class.

Derby continue to waste good chances. Teale, Darren Moore and Howard should have scored before Howard did find the net with a daring header from a perfect Teale corner after 33 minutes. The second half began with Howard missing another easy chance which seemed to signal a revival by Southend. Jones was marked much more tightly in the second. Southend created some good chances as the half progressed and Bywater needed to make some excellent saves. Edworthy had an outstanding second half. The Rams continued to create chances with Fagan and Pearson who received the ball to his wrong foot missing when it was easier to score. At the end of the day 4th consecutive win, another clean sheet and top of the table. What more could a Rams fan ask...?
