Rams raid on for 1.5m heavyweight

Derby are ready to make a bid for Leeds United utility player Sean Gregan, who is also wanted by Hull City reportedly.

Derby wanted Gregan on a short-term deal before the loan transfer deadline in November, but now are expected to return with another offer in January.

The 31-year-old cost WBA 1.5m in 2002, but was sold on to Leeds for a third of that amount 2 years later.

The 6ft 1' former Preston and Darlington weighs in at 14 stone 7lb, and uses his muscular frame to exert his influence in centre midfield or at centre back.

Gregan has expressed his disappointment at being left out of the side lately, but has not said he wants to leave Elland Road.
