Rams Face Vaughan Competition
James Vaughan has long been rumoured to be a target for Nigel Clough but with Norwich City reportedly being open to offers for the striker The Rams are facing competition from Huddersfield Town for his services.
Vaughan spent an injury interrupted spell on loan at Pride Park in 2009 with Clough reportedly keen to bring the then Everton striker back to the club but he eventually opted for temporary stays at Crystal Palace and Leicester City before joining Norwich on a permanent basis for around £2.5m in May 2011. After failing to make an impact at Carrow Road he spent the majority of last season on loan at Huddersfield Town scoring fourteen goals in thirty-three appearances and they remain keen on making it a permanent deal.
Vaughan is the Premier League`s youngest ever goalscorer and has represented England at Under 17, Under 19 and Under 21 levels. His career has been severely restricted by injury having made only just over 100 appearances since his debut in 1994 but he undoubtedly has the talent to make it at this level and Clough will be hoping that this can be in a Derby County shirt.
