Awards For Duo

Richard Keogh and Will Hughes have been named as Player and Young Player of the Year ahead of Derby County`s final game of the season against Millwall at the club`s end of season dinner at Pride Park.

Hughes has made a huge impact on the team during his first full season as a professional which has also seen him win his first caps at Under-21 level for England. Rave reviews have seen the youngster linked with a number of top clubs in England and abroad but Nigel Clough hopes that an extension to his contract signed shortly after his eighteenth birthday along with the clubs reputation for developing youngsters will keep see him remain at Derby next season.

Keogh joined The Rams from Coventry City last summer and was named as captain in the absence of Shaun Barker with injury. The defender has been an ever present this season and has also earned his first full cap for the Republic of Ireland in their friendly with Poland in February. Talking to dcfc.co.uk about the award Keogh said:

"It is an absolute honour to win this award. I`ve enjoyed every single minute of my time at Derby County and I`m humbled to play with this fantastic group of players. It means so much to me. I feel my form has been pretty consistent but I think the best is still to come from me in a Derby shirt."
