Clough Keen On Martin Deal
Nigel Clough is hoping to extend the deal for on loan Norwich City striker Chris Martin after his initial month stay expired after he scored his first Derby goal in the 2-1 victory over Leicester City at the weekend.
Martin has made five appearances during his spell at Pride Park and Clough is keen to keep the striker and is reportedly working on a deal to bring him back to the club ahead of the clash with Bristol City on Good Friday. Martin had a goal incorrectly ruled out for offside against Cardiff City and had come close to opening his account on a number of occasions before he headed fellow loanee Craig Forsyth`s cross beyond Kasper Schmeichel for the winning goal in front of the SkySports camera`s on Saturday. Talking to the Derby Evening Telegraph about a potential deal Clough said:
'We have been trying in the past week to sort something out and, hopefully, we are not too far away. He has done well for us. He is a calming influence. He gets a hold of the ball, keeps it simple and retains possession. Hopefully, something can be confirmed as soon as possible."
