Hoganson Aims To Keep Place
Michael Hoganson made his full debut for Derby County at the weekend in the absence of Gareth Roberts and with the leftback suspended for three games the youngster hopes to keep his place for the visit of Bolton Wanderers later today.
Hoganson was brought into the side after Roberts was sent-off against Hull City last Tuesday night and despite some nerves at making his first start the 19-year-old made a solid start to his firstteam career at Pride Park. Nigel Clough had talked about looking to bring in a replacement on loan but with no loan forthcoming he went with the former Newcastle United youngster who joined The Rams in the summer after impressing during a trial period in pre-season. Having completed the full 90 minutes Hoganson is hungry for more, talking to the Derby Evening Telegraph about the suspension and his debut Hoganson said:
'He's out for three games, so this was a chance for me to stake my claim to stay in the team for the next two matches. Hopefully, I've done that but we'll have to wait and see. When I joined the club, I hoped I'd get in the first team but I'm still a young lad. To make my debut in the Championship is massive and, hopefully, I can crack on from here."
