Sammon Relishing Ireland Chance
Conor Sammon is delighted to have been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad for their friendly with Poland in Dublin and is looking forward to getting the chance to add to his caps at junior levels.
Sammon has previously made three appearances for the Under-21s and one for the Under-23s and wants to add to those caps on 6th February. The former Killmarnock and Wigan Athletic striker was called up to the squad alongside teammates Jeff Hendrick and Richard Keogh after being watched by Giovanni Trapattoni a number of times this season including the draw with Nottingham Forest at the weekend. Talking to dcfc.co.uk about his call-up Sammon said:
"Hopefully I get the chance to play in the friendly match against Poland and have the opportunity to show the manager what I can do. I am sure Jeff and Rich feel the same way, because there are two big qualifiers coming up in March, so this is a great chance for us to stake a claim. It is a big boost for us three, but also for the club; it is great recognition for Derby and the work the manager and coaching staff have put in."
