Ward To Return To Training

Jamie Ward is close to a return to training according to manager Nigel Clough after missing the last fifteen games for The Rams with a hamstring injury.

Ward limped out of the 1-0 victory at the City Ground against Nottingham Forest at the end of September and despite it not being reported as a serious injury at the time he has sat out the last three and a half months of the season. Ward was leading scorer with four goals at the time and his creativity alongside Conor Sammon looked to be the foundation of a promising partnership. Talking to dcfc.co.uk about Ward`s injury Clough said:

"It`s too early to say when exactly we hope to have him back in the squad, but he`s getting closer. He will join in a session or two over the next few days, so that`s a positive piece of news. We`ll build him up from there but it`s important we don`t rush him back into action."
