Buxton Out For Two Months

Jake Buxton sat out the 2-0 victory against Bristol City on Saturday and is likely to be out for at least two months with the knee injury he picked up in the 3-1 victory against Leeds United.

A scan on Buxton`s knee revealed medial cruciate ligament damage but the injury is not as bad a first feared by manager Nigel Clough and his absence will mean a chance for other members of the squad to step up, Mark O`Brien made his first start in over a year in the win at Ashton Gate. With the busy festive period coming up Buxton is disappointed to have to sit out due to the knock and told the Derby Evening Telegraph:

'I'm gutted that I'm going to miss the next few weeks because I felt my form was all right and the team has been performing very well, too. I'll miss a few big games along the way, such as Nottingham Forest at home, but injuries are part and parcel of being a footballer, unfortunately."
