Hendrick Will Boune Back

Johnny Metgod has backed Jeff Hendrick to bounce back after the young midfielder was left out of the starting lineup in the last two games at Pride Park.

Hendrick broke into the side at the start of last season and was one of the outstanding players for The Rams winning the Young Player of the Year award but he has not quite hit those heights again this season. With the form of Will Hughes and Paul Coutts, both of whom can also play in the middle of the park, Hendrick has been given a rest following the defeat to Crystal Palace to give him a chance to take a step out of the firing line. Talking to the Derby Evening Telegraph about giving the youngster a rest Metgod said:

'I think we might be forgetting that he is only 20. He only started to play in the Championship last season and so he is bound to struggle sometimes because he is still learning the trade. He went through one of those times when things did not go the way he wanted them to and the way we wanted them to. So we gave him a breather because sometimes if you keep them in the team it can create an even bigger problem for the player.'
