Hughes Earns Under 21 Call-up

Will Hughes' form has earned him a call up to the England Under-21 side for their friendly with Norther Ireland at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday evening.

Hughes has made sixteen appearances for The Rams this season, scoring twice during the process, after making his full debut in the final game of last season against Peterborough United. Having started the season in the first-team his performances have kept him in the side on merit and after scoring his second goal of the season against Millwall at the weekend Nigel Clough praised the youngster telling dcfc.co.uk:

"We`re obviously really pleased for Will that he`s received this call-up and it`s tremendous news for not only him, but also the Club and the Academy. His performances have belied his young age and to be called up to the England U21 squad at just 17 and a half speaks volumes of the type of player, and person, he is.'

The full squad is as follows:

Ben Amos (Manchester United), Sam Johnstone (Manchester United), Jason Steele (Middlesbrough), Nathaniel Chalobah (Chelsea), Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton), Tom Lees (Leeds United), Liam Moore (Leicester City), Jack Robinson (Liverpool), Adam Smith (Tottenham Hotspur), Andre Wisdom (Liverpool), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Will Hughes (Derby County), Jason Lowe (Blackburn Rovers), Josh McEachran (Chelsea), Nick Powell (Manchester United), Andros Townsend (Tottenham Hotspur), Benik Afobe (Arsenal), Sammy Ameobi (Newcastle United), Tom Ince (Blackpool), Connor Wickham (Sunderland), Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace).
