Mark O'Brien took the latest step in his long comeback from injury when he was introduced as a second half substitute against Peterborough United at the weekend and he was pleased to be back on the pitch despite the final result.
It was the youngsters first appearance in starting lineup in ten months following an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered in training in December of last year. O'Brien has turned out for the Under-21's in the last few weeks and has been named amongst the substitutes for the first team and made his comeback following the red card received by Jake Buxton. The Irishman knows he is not yet back to full fitness but was glad to be back telling dcfc.co.uk:
'It feels great, but I don`t think I am at the end of the road just yet - I still take things day-to-day. Just to get back onto the pitch and get the feel of it again was great. Admittedly I am still getting back to full fitness, but I am heading in the right direction."
