Ward/Sammon Partnership Developing

Jamie Ward believes that this partnership with Conor Sammon is blossoming and he can`t wait to get back in the side following a hamstring injury that kept him out of the clash with Brighton and Hove Albion in the final match before the international break.

The pair have started seven games together scoring five goals in the process and appeared to have been developing a good understanding before Ward limped off in the victory over Nottingham Forest with a problem with his hamstring. Ward played from the wide areas last season but has played a more central role this time and this has started to bear fruit for him since the arrival of Sammon with the former Sheffield United player also producing four assists during his stint in the side. Talking to dcfc.co.uk about the pairing Ward said:

"Between us I think we have got everything that a strike partnership needs. I win the odd header every now and again, but don`t get me wrong; it is tough when you are coming up against these 6ft 4ins defenders. Obviously I have to add a little bit of physicality to my game to put up with them, but alongside me I had someone like Conor who is big, strong, athletic, has frightening pace for a big lad and he also knows where the net is."
