Clough Happy With Fielding Form

Nigel Clough is happy with the form shown by Frank Fielding so far this season despite the former England Under-21 keeper being on the wrong end of eleven goals in the league and a further five in the Capital One Cup.

The Rams have been in fine goalscoring form already this season but they have also failed to keep a clean sheet in their eight games in all competitions leading to a mixed bag of results after a number of late goals. Derby let a two goal lead slip in injury time against Scunthorpe United in their season opener in the Capital One Cup before letting the same advantage go against Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day. They then conceded two late goals to lose against Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium but managed to tighten the ship in the few games before nearly letting Charlton Athletic back from a three goal deficit and somehow losing to a late Charlie Austin strike against Burnley at the weekend.

Despite this Clough has been happy with this keeper and told the Derby Evening Telegraph:

'Teams are scoring some good goals against us, and Frank is not quite sure what has hit him at times. But that will not continue. If teams are having 15 shots against us, then they are going to get goals. But when they are having only three or four and one of them flies in the top corner, then that does not continue.'
