Paul Coutts has the ability to make a big impact from the right side of midfield after being brought in to replace Paul Green according to manager Nigel Clough. Coutts came to Pride Park in a deal believed to be around £100,000 from Preston North End during the summer and had started all of The Rams` games this season before the defeat to Huddersfield Town at the weekend.
Coutts was surplus to requirements at Deepdale but Clough wasted no time in tying up a deal to bring the former Scotland Under-21 midfielder to Derby in July making him the club`s second summer signing. Coutts can play in central midfield but has been used wide on the right in all of his outings so far this year where he has added energy and an attacking threat. Talking to the Derby Evening Telegraph about the deal to bring the midfielder to the club Clough said:
'It was not a difficult decision once we knew he was available and he was an ideal replacement for Paul Green. He's not a winger but he still goes past people very easily. We want to see Paul have that kind of impact on the game. He's only been with us seven or eight weeks but we feel he has got a lot more to offer and we keep emphasising that to him."
