Clough Pleased With New Boys

Nigel Clough was pleased with the contribution of his three summer signing despite a 2-1 defeat to Mansfield Town at the One Call Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Theo Robinson`s first half penalty gave The Rams the lead but second half goals from Matt Green and Lindon Meikle gave the home side the victory in Derby`s first pre-season friendly. Clough used a different team in each half and gave 45 minutes to 18 year-old trialists Valentin Gjokaj and James Caton. Despite the defeat he was pleased with the run out and told the Derby Evening Telegraph:

'All the new boys did well. I thought Richard was a little nervous early on but that is natural when you are starting at a new club. But his competitiveness shone through and he was excellent in the air. Paul Coutts did well and Michael Jacobs won us the penalty.'
