'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sammon Denis Rams Link

Wigan Athletic striker Connor Sammon has denied rumours linking him with a potential loan switch to Derby County saying he is happy at the DW Stadium and is just concentrating on getting himself back into Roberto Martinez's plans for next season.

Nigel Clough showed an interest in bringing the striker to Pride Park eighteen months ago during the transfer window but Sammon ended up moving to Wigan and there have been rumours the Derby manager might be back in for him. However, Sammon told the Wigan Evening Post:

"I`ve not heard anything about that. As far as I`m concerned, I`m just totally focused on playing for Wigan, trying to break into the team, getting more starts and putting myself in contention. In the short term, my goals are to get my head down, get fit as quickly as possible, and trying to kick on."
