Clough Praises Academy Prospects

Nigel Clough has praised Derby County's Academy system and believes more youngsters can make the breakthrough into the squad this season following on from the likes of Jeff Hendrick, Mark O'Brien and Callum Ball last time around.

With Mason Bennett being involved in the squad at times last season and the highly rated Will Hughes making an impressive début on the last day against Peterborough United the two look to be prime candidates to make the step up with Clough telling dcfc.co.uk:

'We are looking ahead at next season with the likes of Mason Bennett kicking on; people forget that he is just leaving school, and has only been in two or three times a week for training. We will get to work with him more closely next season, and Will Hughes is another we have high hopes for. We saw Will on the final day of the season against Peterborough United make a hugely impressive début; he will be in and around the first-team next season."
