Rams Confident On Jacobs

Derby County are still confident of coming to a positive conclusion in their chase for transfer target Michael Jacobs.

Having recently turned down a contract offer from Northampton Town it looks certain the player will be leaving the club, although Cobblers' chairman David Cardoza has not been shy in saying that his side will get a price they think is fair for the wide midfielder. With player being under 24 years old the transfer could go to a tribunal if any parties involved cannot agree a fee. Interestingly The Rams play Northampton in pre-season with rumours of this friendly being part of any potential deal. Departing CEO Tom Glick is confident that Derby can complete the deal telling the Derby Evening Telegraph:

'He continues to be a player we are interested in and if we could bring Michael to Derby, that would be great and we're certainly hopeful that we can achieve that. We feel we have the situation under control and we're optimistic about our ability to reach a positive conclusion. We're in touch with Northampton, yes, and we'll just have to wait and see how things evolve. It's too early to talk about anything like a tribunal at this stage.'
