Shackell On The Move?
Despite turning down two bids for defender Jason Shackell it looks as though the club may be willing to let him leave with Nigel Clough not ruling out the possibility of the former Barnsley man being sold.
Two bids, reportedly upwards of £1million, from Championship side Burnley have been rejected but with the Lancashire club looking to be about to profit from the sale of striker Jay Rodriguez to newly promoted Premiership outfit Southampton they will have the funds to come back with an improved offer. Talking to the Derby Evening Telegraph about the possibility of a deal being done Clough said:
'We don't want to lose Jason but if we got significant funds and it enabled us to buy a couple of players and replace him, without losing too much strength in that area, then that's what we'll look to do."
"We're not making Jason available for transfer but if something comes in, we will look at it. We have two or three players in mind that wouldn't cost as much as Jason and, we think, wouldn't significantly weaken us in that position."
