Lupoli arrives on season-long loan

Derby County have today completed the season-long loan signing of Arsenal striker Arturo Lupoli.

Lupoli arrives with an impressive pedigree, mainly at reserve team level where last season he scored 17 goals in just 15 games.

Manager Billy Davies has clearly done a good selling job on the 19 year old, telling the Derby Evening Telegraph: 'He's impressed with the set-up, and Derby County is the ideal stage for him to develop his career. This is the type of environment he will relish.'

'He now needs to take the next step from reserve team football to regular first-team football.

'It will be a challenge for him and will not be easy. He will have to work hard and earn his goals.

'All young players who come through the reserves, including the likes of Wayne Rooney, have to be given the opportunity to show what they can do. We are offering Lupoli that opportunity because we feel his scoring ability and pace can cause teams problems.'

Lupoli goes straight into the squad for tomorrow's game against Norwich City.
