Carroll Joins For The Rest Of The Season

Derby County have signed Tottenham youngster Tom Carroll on loan for the rest of the season as Nigel Clough looks to boost his midfield options. The 19-year-old midfielder is highly rated after coming through the youth ranks at White Hart Lane and whilst he has yet to make his full league debut he has made seven starts for the first team including a number of appearances in their Europa League campaign. Carroll has been capped at Under-19 level for England and was an unused substitute for the Under-21 side earlier this season. Speaking to dcfc.co.uk about the loan deal Clough said:

'We're delighted to welcome Tom on board. He's a highly-regarded young player and we have monitored his progress for a considerable amount of time. He brings another option for us in midfield and it's great he will be around for the rest of the season. Tom has already played first-team football at Tottenham this season and they view him coming here as an important part of his development.'
