Hendrick Happy With New Deal

Jeff Hendrick spoke of his delight after the young Irish man signed a new three and a half year deal before the clash with Bristol City last weekend. After breaking into the side earlier this season he has not relinquished his starting spot and has made eighteen starts and three substitute appearances already. The youngster has also made the step up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21 side after being a regular for the Under-19s and scored the winning goal in the unforgettable victory over Nottingham Forest in a remarkable start to the season.

After talks appeared to have dragged on a little longer than expected the news was finally announced before The Rams beat City 2-1 at Pride Park last Saturday. Talking to the Derby Evening Telegraph about the deal Hendrick said:

'The last four months has been a dream come true for me to be playing regularly in the first team. I hope this is just the start. I know that just because I have signed a new contract doesn't mean I've made it."

'I want to continue to work hard and develop as a player, which I am sure I will do under Nigel Clough and his coaching staff. They have shown an unbelievable amount of belief and faith in me. I hope to repay them with my performances on the pitch.'
