O'Brien Up For Awards

Mark O`Brien`s remarkable start to the season continued with the news that he has been nominated for two awards at the BBC East Midlands Sports Awards. Having broken through into the first team at the start of the season and signing a long term contract until 2015 the news has been announced that the youngster has been shortlisted for the Football Achievement of the Year Award and the Brian Clough Breakthrough Award. The ceremony to announce the winners is due to take place at Loughborough University on Thursday 17th November 2011. Speaking to dcfc.co.uk in relation to the news Chief Executive Tom Glick said:

'It's a fantastic achievement for Derby County that one of our players has been nominated for two awards. Mark has had a fantastic season for us so far and has grasped the opportunity to be a regular in our first team. The progress he has made has been one of the many positives at the club in the opening months of the season.'
