Injury Roundup - Rams Pair Ruled Out

Injuries have struck Derby County`s squad with the news that John Brayford and Steve Davies are both set to be ruled out for the foreseeable future. Brayford missed the draw with league leaders Southampton, the first game he has missed since signing from Crewe, with a thigh problem and the club have since made a statement to the effect that he could miss the next five matches. Speaking to dcfc.co.uk Nigel Clough said:

'He tweaked his thigh in training last week and he has a slight tear. John being John, he wanted to give it a go on Saturday but he clearly wasn't right. He could be out up until the November international break but he's a quick healer and he may be back sooner."

Davies` Derby career has been blighted by injury but he has played a major role in their strong start to season and is currently leading scorer with five goals. The former Tranmere man has established himself as the focal point of The Rams attack with a run of games in the side but he went down after an aerial challenge on Saturday and after visiting hospital his worst fears were confirmed when it was revealed he had a fracture of the skull just above his eyebrow. It looks as though Davies will be out until the New Year with Clough telling the official website:

'Steven has been so unlucky with injuries at Derby County and we're all gutted for him. If anyone is due a bit of luck, it's him. It was an innocuous incident as well with no intent from the Southampton player at all. He is going to be out for the best part of 12 weeks and we will miss him.'
