Rams' Earn International Honours

It has been a successful week for two of Derby County`s internationals with Jeff Hendrick and Jamie Ward both picking up their first cap for their respective sides. Hendrick played the first 45 minutes for the Republic of Ireland Under-21`s after stepping up from the Under-19 side he represented in the summer. The 19-year-old was replaced at halftime of the friendly with Austria in Sligo as his side eventually went on to a 2-1 win.

Ward, a former Northern Ireland Under-21 international, made his full debut after coming off the bench for the final eight minutes of their 4-0 European Championship Qualifying victory over the Faroe Islands in Belfast. Ward had been named in the squad on a couple of previous occasions and had been named amongst the substitutes but had not made it onto the pitch to earn his first cap. Talking to dcfc.co.uk Nigel Clough spoke of his pleasure that Ward had been rewarded for his hard work saying:

"It's a great achievement for Jamie. His form has been excellent since he joined us in February from Sheffield United and we're delighted for him.'
