'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Shackell Raring To Go

Jason Shackell hopes to return to full fitness before the end of Derby County`s pre-season preparations so that he can play his part when the season gets under way with the visit of Birmingham City to Pride Park on August 6th. The new signing has been frustrated at not being able to get any game time in the friendlies with Burton Albion and Macclesfield Town but is looking to join in as the games continue next week. The former Barnsley captain is convinced that things are building nicely for the new season and that the club is geared for success once the new signings have settled in telling dcfc.co.uk:

'I'm frustrated not to be involved at the moment, especially as I'm a new signing and I want to impress. I'm coming on well working with the physios and I should be involved at some point towards the back end of pre-season. It isn't ideal missing this part of pre-season, but at same time it isn't end of world. If I can get some game time in last game or two of pre-season, I won't be far off come the opening day.'

'I think the Club is geared up for success, and from what I've seen the signs are very good. It has been a brilliant month so far here. I've been in treatment room for the last week or so, but I've settled in really well and we're all looking forward to getting the season started.'
