Maguire Deal Completed

Derby County and Aberdeen have finally agreed terms on the transfer of Chris Maguire and the striker was revealed as the club`s seventh summer signing earlier today. Having agreed personal terms before Maguire went on his summer holidays following his return from international duty the two clubs had been left haggling over the compensation due to the Scottish outfit with the player being out of contract but still only 22 years-old.

Maguire scored twelve goals in all competitions for The Dons last season and manager Craig Brown was keen to keep hold of the striker but with his contract expiring this summer and no deal agreed between the two Maguire was free to move on. With the deal reportedly sealed a few weeks ago it has been down to the clubs to agree a fee and now this has been settled the move has been completed. Maguire sees the move as a way to force his way into the thoughts of Scotland manager Craig Levein having been named in the squad for the Nations Cup games at the back end of last season and he spoke to dcfc.co.uk about his joy at finally completing the move and how the support base at Pride Park played a big part in his decision saying:

'This move has been going on for a few weeks, but in my eyes it was done about three weeks ago. It is great to get the deal over the line at last and now I'm looking forward to meeting everyone on Friday and getting settled in. When I heard Derby were interested in me I had a look on the internet at the crowds Derby gets, and to have the opportunity to play in front of almost 30,000 people every week was one of the things that persuaded me to come here."
