Rams land Howard for £1m

The Rams have splashed the cash this morning to secure the services of Steve Howard from Luton Town.

The Durham-born frontman arrives for a fee of £1m, making him the Rams' first million pound signing for 5 years.

The 30 year old Howard told www.dcfc.co.uk: 'Right now I am just itching to get going. I can't wait for the season to start and hopefully I can beef up the strikeforce at Derby County.'

Rams manager Billy Davies was understandably delighted at his 1st signing as Derby manager, and indicated that more signings are on the way.

I think this is an excellent signing. The Rams have missed a physical presence since Gregorsz Rasiak left last season, and according to a number of Luton fans, Howard is as good a target man as there is in the divsion.

Good work Billy, let's see who you come up with next.......

Howard is a fantastic player, who seemed a little demotivated towards the end of last season. A new club is probably just the kick he needs. Hope he does well for Billy Davies and Derby

We're signing ryan Smith for left mid. Good signing just weary that £1m is a too bigger price.
