Conor Doyle reflected on an 'incredible first year` at Pride Park that has included fifteen appearances for the first team along with call-ups and caps for both the USA under-20 and the Republic of Ireland under-21 sides. Having signed a two year deal after impressing on trial last summer Doyle has played a bigger part in the squad than he expected after giving up a scholarship at Creighton University in Nebraska in favour of moving to Pride Park. Doyle has made five starts along with ten appearances from the bench and he has also scored four goals in his last five appearances for the US under-20 side after choosing to represent them in the long term. Talking to dcfc.co.uk Doyle looked back on his achievements last campaign and said:
'The only thing I could have asked for on top of what I've achieved already would have been to score my first senior goal. Everything has been fantastic. I've had more playing time that I thought I'd get and I've had international call-ups too."
'My first start at Coventry was a highlight and a game I will never forget, but the stand-out moment for me was at Preston on New Year's Day. I came into the side, we won 2-1 and I got my first assist in senior football. As the season progressed, I felt I became a better player. When I come back for pre-season I want to be challenging to be in the team next year. This year has been great, but I obviously want to kick on if I can.'
