Varney Keen On Blackpool Return

Luke Varney`s loan spell at Blackpool came to an end with their final day defeat at Old Trafford and their subsequent relegation to the Championship. The defeat may have scuppered any chances of a permanent deal but he remains interested in a possible return as he looks unlikely to figure in Nigel Clough`s plans for next season. Varney still has a year to go on his Derby deal but has been out of the first team picture virtually since Clough took over the reigns and, having spent all of last season out on loan, his future looks certain to be away from Pride Park. Talking about how much he enjoyed his time at Bloomfield Road Varney told the Blackpool Gazette:

'I spoke to the gaffer briefly after the final game against Manchester United and told him that if there was ever an opportunity to come back, I'd snap his hand off. You never know in football. Even if there was a case of me coming back on loan, I'd definitely embrace that. It is a place I know and if two clubs came in for me and a decision had to be made, I'd choose Blackpool straightaway.'
