Aberdeen striker Chris Maguire is keen on a switch to Pride Park and both the player and manager Craig Brown expect the deal to go through once he returns from international duty with Scotland. Maguire reportedly had a request to leave the squad to complete a medical turned down by national manager Craig Levein but the deal is expected to complete early next week after their game with the Republic of Ireland on Sunday evening. Speaking to the Scottish press Brown, the former Rams` football consultant, said:
'It looks as though he'll go to Derby, it's not been confirmed, obviously, because he's away with the national team. But I'm sure that when he comes back, a medical will be undertaken. He'll have no bother passing that, I'm sure, and the transfer will go through. I think the compensation comes to just under £400,000. That's to be confirmed.'
When questioned about the move Aberdeen`s second leading scorer from last season confirmed he was keen to get the deal tied up after fulfilling his international duties before going on holiday later in the week. Maguire scored eleven goals in all competitions last season but couldn`t agree a new deal with Aberdeen and he spoke of his desire to settle the matter ahead of his summer break:
"I have spoken to Derby and my agent has spoken with them, that's all I can really say at this moment in time. It is strange, because I've never been in this position before but I will speak to my agent and we will see what happens. I am here (in Dublin) until Sunday night, when the team flies back to Glasgow. Then, I am planning to go on holiday on Wednesday, so if anything is happening, hopefully it will be either on Monday or Tuesday.'
'It would be massive for me. You ask anybody associated with football and they know that Derby is a massive club. That is one of the reasons I have thought hard about it. Nothing is finalised yet, so it still might not happen - but, hopefully, something will happen.'
